Carrousel Museum awarded $265K

A federal program to help preserve cultural and historic sites across the U.S. will bring a round of funding to the Herschel Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda.

The Carousel Society of the Niagara Frontier has been awarded $265,000 to stabilize wood trusses in the carving shop area of the Allan Herschel Co. building and to replace the 80-year old sprinkler system.

The full cost of the project is pegged at $580,000.

In all, 41 organizations will share in $9.5 million of Save America’s Treasure grants, awarded through a collaboration of the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for Humanities and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
