NewsStand becomes LibreDigital, names Russell Reeder CEO

It’s not just for newspapers anymore.

Prompted by its expansion to a broader base of publishing clients and delivery methods, NewsStand Inc. has changed its name to LibreDigital.

The nearly decade-old Austin company, which helps publishers of products ranging from newspapers to books market and control their works in digital format, has also named Russell Reeder president and CEO.

Reeder, who was most recently president and chief operating officer of Los Angeles-based digital entertainment company NxTV, brings more than 14 years of experience in corporate development and senior management to LibreDigital. Reeder will also serve on the company’s board.

While the company’s magazine and newspaper division will continue to operate under the NewsStand name, LibreDigital reflects the widening focus of the company’s operations. LibreDigital is developing new delivery methods for its clients using platforms such as social networking sites freecreditreport http://payday-badcredit.com. The company works with titles such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

LibreDigital Chairman Martin Neath says Reeder’s experience in global media “will prove invaluable as we grow the company to keep pace with demand for technology solutions to help publishers reach new digital audiences.”

LibreDigital has 98 employees, and Reeder says the company is adding to its development staff. The company does not discuss its revenue.

Launched in 1999, NewsStand raised $23.2 million in funding from 2002 to 2004 through investors like the New York Times Co. and HarperCollins Publishers. The company opened an office in London in 2007.
